Planet ARK's National Tree Day

J. Richardson

As part of  Planet ARK's National Tree Day activities the Year P-1 students were excited to plant numerous native shrubs to help improve our environment. They will be responsible for watering  the plants to ensure they have the best chance of survival.  The Mildura Rural City Council sponsored this activity by supplying Merbein P-10 College with the shrubs, tree guards and stakes.

GTAC Travelling Science Show Report

K. Grimmer

On Tuesday, 30th July the Year 5-6 students were involved in another amazing visit from the GTAC Travelling Science Show.  Working in small groups alongside GTAC scientist mentors, students explored the role of bees and flowering plants in fruit production. They used microscopes to investigate the structure of flowers and discovered the location of ovaries and pollen.  The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive due to the opportunity provided to meet and work with actual scientists and learn how to use microscopes.

Beyblades

W. Finn

Students bringing personal items from home must be aware that it is their responsibility to take care of them.   If items are not named, it is very difficult for teachers to know who owns them.  Beyblades in particular are so interchangeable, it is difficult to track them.  If they continue to be a problem, we may have to ban them which would be unfortunate.

Lost Property

There are lots of school windcheaters piling up in our lost property box. Parents are welcome to come in and take home windcheaters that are unnamed.  Please check that your child’s school jumpers and hats are clearly named.

Merbein Community Bank School Student Banking Program
