Kalinda Crews!

This year, we are very excited to introduce our school community to KALINDA CREWS! Last year, we asked our staff and students what they wanted for our school community. Amongst many other awesome things, one of the major hopes for our school was increasing student-to-student and student-to-staff connectedness. Since then, we have been busily working away at setting up our Kalinda Crews!

Kalinda Crews will alternate with assembly on a Friday afternoon. The intention of the Crews concept is to encourage relationships with students and staff across the school in a non-threatening and fun environment. We recognise the importance of students having a relationship with teachers other than their own and, where possible, students will return to the same teacher each year to build a relationship that lasts across their primary school years. The students in their crew will, as much as possible, stay consistent too, with groups being made up of students across all year levels in vertical groups.  Kalinda Crews is a common time for all students and staff to discuss values, and learn and practise social skills. For our Foundation students, they will be joined in their Crew by their Grade Five buddy to support them on this new adventure. We also look forward to honing strong leadership skills in our Grade Six students who will, in time, run the sessions!

The Kalinda Crews are an important opportunity for students to role model to each other the value of the Play is the Way key concepts Treat Others As You Would Like to be Treated, Be Brave- Participate to Progress, Pursue your Personal Best No Matter Who You Work With, Have Reasons for the Things You Say and Do, It Takes Great Strength to be Sensible.

We are really looking forward to this new adventure and look forward to celebrating this process across the year!
