From the Assistant Principal

From Mrs Hopkins' office....

Welcome back to all of the Kalinda family and friends, particularly our newest additions. We are so glad that you are here. I look forward to working with you this year Kalinda!

As you will have read on Compass, Kalinda will be holding a fundraising event in support of school communities in East Gippsland affected by the recent terrible fires.

Students are invited to search their bookshelves and consider donating a book (or books) in great condition to our Bushfire Book Fair. Students can donate up to 3 books (no more) that are in excellent condition. We encourage students to consider a book that they have enjoyed that now someone else in our community might enjoy as well. We ask that students aim to donate a book that is appropriate to their current age (for example a Grade 4 student would donate a book appropriate for a Grade 3-5 student).

On Thursday 13th February we will be holding a Book Fair during class time. Students will be invited to bring along some money and choose a book to purchase for themselves. For a gold coin donation per book, students may purchase up to 3 books.

The money raised will be donated to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund (GERF), with the particular intention of it being used to support a school community in East Gippsland. Whilst many schools were lucky enough to save their buildings, their communities will feel the effects of these fires for many years. The GERF is a volunteer run organisation that distributes 100% of their donated funds to families and communities in crisis.

Our intention for this fundraiser is that not only does our community make a financial contribution towards the massive relief efforts, but that our students can feel like they have personally contributed.

Please have a chat with your child about donating a book (up to 3). Please ensure that any donation is in excellent condition. We will be collecting donations next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Donations should be taken to the classroom.

Roxie the Wonderdog

Roxie is an 10.5 month old Cavoodle who loves to visit school several times a week and spend time with students and teachers. Roxie is a wonderful listener and loves to hear stories. Roxie is proud of her recent accomplishments including shaking paws, learning to 'drop' and giving 'high fives'. Over the holidays she went to the beach for the first time and is still wondering how those waves keep coming and going with a mind of their own! She is working on not chewing shoes and lego in Mrs Hopkins' house...

Roxie would like me to let you know that she particularly loves a tummy scratch and that she can't wait to see you this year.

We are kind. We are resilient. We are respectful.
