Leadership Centre

Curriculum

Welcome back to school! We have already settled in nicely in the Leadership Centre and had two special events last week. On Wednesday we were privileged to be invited to Forest Hill College’s production the Rock of Ages. The show was put on by a mixture of students ranging from year 7 to year 12 in a variety of roles. The show composed of two acts with an intermission in between, students enjoyed having lunch in the gymnasium and seeing the multiple dance routines. It was also nice to see some friendly faces on stage who had previously gone to MPRPS.

Wednesday was also the day our boys' soccer team went off to compete in the District Soccer Tournament. Well done to the team as they came second overall, winning 2 games and losing 1.

In Mathematics, we have begun to learn more about fractions, how to compare them and how to plot them on a number line. We thoroughly enjoyed our hands on paper folding lesson, whereby students were given a piece of paper and their task was to manipulate it into a particular fraction (e.g. ¼). Students took turns being the ‘skeptic’ and ‘convincer’ as they had to supply mathematical reasons behind why their paper represented a particular fraction.

In Writing we have studied how to structure reviews. We have learnt that reviews can come in all sorts of forms including Youtube recommendations, movie critics, product reviews, food blogs, Airbnb reviews and star ratings. Students are in the process of writing their own review of our recent trip to Forest Hill College seeing their production Rock of Ages.

Reminders

  • Indonesian Day is on Wednesday the 24th of July, so don't forget to wear your Indonesian attire or colours.
