…2 weeks to go!

Hello Everybody!

We are all working hard to have everyone on board for our Multicultural Day,   and by now every student knows about the five tasks we all are to carry out.

One of these task is quite delicate and needs all families to be fully aware of what to do in regards to… FOOD!

Multicultural Day Shared Lunch

We are asking that students bring a plate of food to share with their classmates. Traditional cultural recipes are welcome.  Please provide a list of ingredients to assist with food intolerances or allergies.

You may also wish to write a story about the origin of your dish for the students to share.

Students with Food Allergies: Parents/ carers of students who have an allergy are asked to liaise with classroom teachers and to prepare a separate party plate for their child to avoid any possible contamination.

We hope that it’s clear.

We are not thinking of pre-packed food from the supermarket, (in particular please no ‘junk’ food), instead we are thinking about traditional recipes that run in the family or that we have learnt from other cultures. Great if you can have your children helping out and prepare your dish with you! The quantity is also important, we expect everyone takes a sample of food for a few students  ( 4/5 portions max, so that we reduce the leftovers!)

Please be aware that on this day the Canteen will not be operating, but the school kitchens can  be used to heat up some food, however it would be even more helpful if food is brought to school heated.

Whatever yummy dish you are thinking about, have fun with that and try to communicate the joy of passing down a family recipe!

So what are these five little jobs everyone is expected to carry out?

Check if your child remember, but eventually here they are:

  1. Family History: interview one’s family to discover origin, cultures, stories that wait to be told!
  2. Languages: find out if any other language is already spoken in the family and learn some words. Anyway everyone should know 10 ways to say ‘Hello’!
  3. Outfit and clothes: find something to wear, either from your culture or another that you are curious about, or design your own Multicultural T-shirt!
  4. Food:  prepare a dish from your traditional culture or from another culture you appreciate, for the students to share with their classmates.
  5. Gold Coin for a Little Chore: every student offers their time in exchange for a gold coin, to show they are serious about helping the animals to regain their habitat lost during the bushfires.

All Cultures share a strong link with Animals.

Thank you so much for your support!

Please be also aware that you are welcome to come earlier than usual to pick up your child, so we can share with you our joy during the Big Assembly from 2.30pm

There will be chairs in the shade for the elderly and a few presentations from our students and all the helpers we are so lucky to have at our school!

Thanks, happy preparations!
