Guidelines, Principles and Standards

We have been busy revising the 4th edition of our Principles for the Development of Health and Social Care Standards and the Guidelines and Standards for External Evaluation Organisations. We would like to thank the following Accreditation Council members who worked closely with us over the past year to revise the Principles and Standards:

We would also like to thank all of you who took the time to review the draft Principles and Standards and provide your feedback as part of the consultation process for each. Your input has helped us to develop a robust set of Principles and Standards which in turn will help external evaluation organisations worldwide to drive improvements in the quality and safety of health and social care services.

We are excited to be launching these new editions at the Conference in Kuala Lumpur. Assessment against the 5th Edition Guidelines and Standards for External Evaluation Organisations will become mandatory for organisational surveys taking place after June 1st 2019. For standards, assessment against the 5th Edition Principles for the Development of Health and Social Care Standards will be mandatory for desktop surveys scheduled after 1st August 2019.

Organisations who have opted to be assessed against the 5th Editions in Quarter 1 2019 will shortly receive access to their Collaborate sites.

We will also provide the first round of 5th Edition training in November 2018 for surveyors who will undertake the first surveys against the 5th Editions in Quarter 1 2019. 5th Edition training will then be rolled out for all other surveyors from Quarter 2 2019.
