Game Draws: I will be sending a full draft schedule with suggested home game times to parents and players in the next couple of days. Parents and players must check Woodchatta every Wednesday evening for confirmed game times and venues for each Saturday. Round 1 is next Saturday 26 October.

Training: Training for all teams starts next week. Attached below is the Term 4 training timetable.

Uniforms: All new players will need to purchase a singlet and shorts from the Uniform shop next week prior to Round 1 on Saturday 26 October. Players are allocated a number when they purchase their singlet. Players must wear the correct shorts. Soccer / Football shorts are not to be worn. The Uniform shop is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8.00 am to 1.30pm.

Score Bench: It is essential that parents and friends help do the scoring at all home games. Please volunteer to do the bench. Attached below is a “How to score instruction booklet”. If you are new to scoring just let the referees know prior to the game and they will give you a quick demonstration of what to do.

ISA Cricket Squad

The ISA cricket squad had a series of trial matches in the second week of the recent holidays. These provided very good preparation for the upcoming ISA competition.

St Aloysius’ 1sts and 2nds were hosted at Oxford Falls which looked a picture and was a credit to our ground staff. Two convincing victories resulted for St Pius with half centuries being scored by Adam Greenwood, Jude Boyle and Joel Austin. On Thursday the 1st XI scored 204 against the Mosman Green Shield. Liam Chang’s 51 off 37 balls was the highlight of the innings. A solid team performance with the ball saw the opposition dismissed for 137. A stormy day at St Josephs at Hunters Hill meant a reduced number of overs. Stuart Dingley top scored as St Pius batted first again and then restricted the home side to 114 off 35 overs.

In the 2nd XI game against St Aloysius, St Pius was 203 off 50 overs and St Aloysius was 160 all out off 50 overs:   B O’Rielly 5 overs 3-4. J Austin 59no, J Boyle 70.

Thanks to the boys who put in a very fine effort over these three days and to the parents who helped us host so well. This should give the ISA squad confidence for the games to follow this term.

St Pius 1st XI 7-196 (Adam Greenwood 67, Stuart Dingley 38) defeated St Aloysius 1st XI 70 (Charlie Sharpe 3-17, Duncan Dingley 2-12)

St Pius 1st XI 9-204 (Liam Chang 51, Joshua Overton 26, Laurence Sheehan 24) defeated Mosman 137 (Liam Chang 2-1, Laurence Sheehan 2-9)

St Pius 1st XI 6-158 (Stuart Dingley 41, Charlie Sharpe 27, Laurence Sheehan 26no, Logan Nicey 20) defeated 6-114 (Laurence Sheehan 3-12)

Under 15s New Zealand Tour 2020:  At the annual presentation evening all players from the Under 14s age group received an invitation to the 2020 New Zealand Tour.  The tour will occur during the second week of the April school holidays, departing Sydney on Friday 17 April and returning on Friday 24 April in time to enjoy the ANZAC Day weekend before returning to school.

The tour is open to any boy who currently plays rugby or is interested in playing rugby in the future. It is not graded and there is no selection process, we just a minimum number of 20 boys for the tour to go ahead. Students must be eligible for the Under 15s in 2020, that is they turn 15 next year. Given the numbers in the Under 14s age group, we are hopeful of taking two teams in 2020.

I ask parents to consider this fantastic opportunity for their sons, with more information available in the invitation below.  You can register your interest via:  https://www.trybooking.com/553046
