Principal's Report

Japanese Cultural Day

Wow! What a great day we have all enjoyed. Japanese Cultural Day has once again been a highlight of the calendar. Sensei and her band of helpers have worked tirelessly to ensure the day was a huge success. Our year six leaders have ensured their competency in organising and supporting their groups through their day’s activities, which included, chopsticks, origami, mask making and a variety of games. The sound of Wadaiko Drumming has been a wonderful background to the day’s activities.

Spoil the Staff Day

Yesterday, all the staff were extremely fortunate to be ‘spoilt’ by our wonderful school community. The theme of the day was ’Play School’ and it was a fun opportunity for staff to dress up and engage in activities that reflected playing as children. The response from families to supply such delicious food was overwhelming and thank you to the parents that helped on the day. Special thanks to Lisa, Catherine and Monique from the Parents Association who worked tirelessly preparing and working on the day to make it such a huge success.

Fathers Day

Last Friday, it was wonderful to see the students so excited choosing their special gift for their Dad or Grandfather at the Father’s Day stall. The Foxy Crafters did an amazing job making a range of handmade gifts to be ready for sale.  A huge thank you to Nicki Harwood, Judith Millinger, Kelly Vimpani (ex-parent), Lavina Carvalho, Inger Robinson, Eun Joo Kim and  Stevie Wright.

School Review

The School Review is in full swing, we had the Validation Day on Monday followed by the reviewer returning yesterday to complete the first of two Field Days. The second day is tomorrow when he will be available to catch up with parents who may be available in the staffroom at 9.00 am. Please come along if you are free. The final day will be on Monday.

Fete News!

We are now in countdown mode for the 2019 SSPS Fete. The advertising boards are up and look amazing.

Opportunities for parents and grandparents to offer their assistance on the day will be in next week’s Rocket, please keep an eye out for this.

A classroom stall is looking for donations of soft drink, 1.25 litres in capacity so please if you could at your next shop add one or two bottles to your trolley that would be greatly appreciated. Each classroom will be collecting them.

We are also looking for some specialised assistance to help on the day. Please let us know if there are any parents available for the day who have ‘food handling qualifications’ just to ensure that we are compliant during the day with our food stalls.

First aid is the other area we need specialised assistance with. If you have Level 2 or equivalent qualifications and are able to assist with first aid on the day that would also be greatly appreciated. For both First Aid and Food Handling, please email Charlie at kenez.charles.a@edumail.vic.gov.au.
