Over the past few weeks we have been focussing on a unit of work namely “Vegetables, eggs, fruit & Farinaceous dishes”. We have prepared items such as potato gnocchi, polenta and fresh pasta. These are all considered farinaceous dishes that comes from the term “Farina” which means flour. We have also been discussing culinary uses for eggs and have attempted quite successfully soufflés and sponge rolls. On the garden side, we have been utilising Asian greens, celery and spinach that were harvested fresh for us to use in the kitchen. The fruit trees are also starting to bud and we have apples starting to grow.
