PFA Sushi Day Fundraiser – this Friday – orders close tomorrow!

Our first PFA Sushi Day for Term 2 will be held this Friday, 28th May.  Orders close in Qkr tomorrow!  Sushi days are a great fundraising initiative, with $1 from each roll purchased coming back to the school. When ordering, please make sure you do so through the ‘PFA Fundraising & Events’ Menu in Qkr, rather than the regular lunch order menu.  A big thank you to local Carnegie business owner Ming, from Sushi Izu, for his ongoing support of CPS.

Mothers’ Day Breakfast

On Wednesday 12th May almost 40 CPS Mums, of children from across all year levels of the school, enjoyed the first PFA Mothers’ Day breakfast at the newly opened Major Mitchell Café.

It was a lovely morning of delicious food and great company, catching up with friends, and making new connections.  It was also lovely to have Linda pop in to say hi to us all (and manage to buy a winning raffle ticket while she was there!)

Congratulations to Door Prize winner, Galit, and all the raffle winners. The raffle was the fundraising component of the event, and raised approximately $370 for the school, which is amazing! Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets.

Huge thanks to Elle, Sandra and Karen for organising the breakfast, and to the following generous supporters who donated prizes:

  • Cathy (Mum of Josh & Will in Grade 6 and Amelia in Grade 2) @pretty_peonie
  • Priyanka (Mum of Asher in Grade 2) @sugartemplecake

PFA Popcorn Days

The first PFA Popcorn Fundraiser was held last Thursday, and seemed to be much loved by students from across the school!  We were blown away but the demand -with almost 500 bags sold - thank you to everyone for your support, and sending your children to school with $1 to take part.

We have been busy working through some refinements to the process on the day, to make sure students won’t need to wait in the line for as long to enjoy their popcorn, and look forward to running two more popcorn days this term – on Thursday June 3rd, and Thursday June 10th.

A few important thank yous associated with this event, to:

  • Candice Hall (Mum of Isabelle in Grade 2 & Eloise in Grade 1) for co-ordinating all things popcorn; and to Lee Vu (Mum of Alice in Grade 5, Audrey in Grade 2 and Adeline in Prep) for joining Candice in testing the machine and running the first event, as well as putting together the promotional video
  • James Kondarovskis (Dad of Victor in Grade 1), from the Superpop Group, has kindly loaned the PFA a giant popcorn machine
  • Lucy Gow (Mum of Harvey in Grade 2) of @lucygow_illustration for another awesome customised CPS illustration
  • Ms Harley and the grade 6 students who gave up their lunchtime to help serve popcorn
  • Samar (Grade 5A) for coming up with the idea for popcorn day.  Some of you might have heard the story of Samar’s idea at assembly yesterday morning, and that he has earned himself free popcorn for the rest of the year for his efforts!

If you have some time available between 11am – 3pm on June 3rd or 17th, or on Thursdays in term 3, and would like to assist with the running of popcorn day, we would love to hear from you.  It is lots of fun!  Please email us on pfa@carnegieps.vic.edu.au.

Upcoming Events

Given the popularity of our food fundraisers such as mangoes and apples, we are currently working with an egg farmer around a free range egg fundraiser – watch out for more details on this on Compass next week.

You’ll be able to use the eggs you buy to do some baking for Cupcake Day / Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, which will be held on Friday 18th June – more details to come soon.
