SPECIAL RECOGNITION OF OUR EDUCATION SUPPORT OFFICERS

Last week was ES Recognition Week and it reminds us of the special and very supportive work that our Education Support Officers do each and every day in so many ways. At CPS our ES Officers are our office staff as well as our teacher/integration staff. On behalf of the whole school community, I would like to sincerely thank them for their commitment and dedication to the students, staff and parents of Carnegie Primary School.

STUDENT BEHAVIOUR RUBRICS

To increase student partnership and ownership in their learning Liz Harley, our Leading Teacher, in collaboration with students and teachers have developed a rubric focusing on learning dispositions. In this rubric we have endeavored to outline expectations for behaviour at Carnegie Primary School to ensure optimal learning opportunities, for all students, across any given day.

As a staff, we will be using this rubric to assess student behaviour and effort on their 2021 June and December reports. All year levels and specialist classes will use this document to ensure consistent and constructive feedback is given to all students. I have reattached this to today’s newsletter so you can be familiar with this before you receive you child/children’s report at the end of term.

Beahviour Rubric:

CURRICULUM DAY - NO SCHOOL

Please note that tomorrow, Wednesday 26th May, is a Curriculum Day elected and approved by School Council. There will be no school for children on this day. A Before and After Care program will operate all day.

DADS GROUP

We are in the process of building a Fathering Project Dads Group at CPS. Research has shown the critical role dads and father-figures play in a child’s wellbeing so the aim of the group is to connect, equip and inspire fathers and father-figures in our school community to be engaged and effective in the lives of their children.

Our Dads Group aims to run one activity each term, including fun events for dads and kids. We’d love you to consider being part of this group. We will be having a session to launch this program on the evening of Wednesday 9th June. Details will be shared closer to the date.

Getting involved

The group will be run by dads, for dads, so we are looking for a small group of dads or father figures who would be willing to become Dads Group Leaders. You will be assisted by CPS staff members.

The Fathering Project provides ongoing support, training and leader resources including presenters and guides to help plan activities, ensuring the role of a Dads Group leader is simple yet rewarding.

If you are interested in supporting leading at CPS please call in and see either Karen or Linda

We do hope this new venture proves a real success and hope a number of our fathers and father-figures will get behind this worthwhile initiative.
