Announcing WHC’s inaugural Alumni Captain
The Western Heights College Alumni Program is excited to announce the school has appointed its very first Alumni Captain – Tiana Prodanov.
The Alumni Captain work alongside the Alumni Program Coordinator to determine and devise opportunities to bridge alumni and student connections.
For example, Tiana will gather feedback from students on the types of alumni they would like to hear from, so that the Alumni Program can cater to students’ interests. As a School Co-Captain, Tiana will also be able to identify and lead initiatives for alumni to be involved outside of the classroom.
Tiana has already been involved as a speaker at an alumni session, when she appeared alongside 2020 School Co-Captain Nathanael Briese for a Term 1 Q&A with Year 11 VCE students. This gives her a unique perspective on the Alumni Program as both a student and a speaker.
Congratulations, Tiana! We look forward to working together to see WHC students gain maximum benefits from the Alumni Program.

LIBRARY NEWS
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE THAT YOU ADMIRE? A LOOK BACK IN HISTORY AT THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SHAPED GEELONG :
This term the year 3 / 4 students from Herne Hill PS had the task to gather and research information from many different sources on a person that had a significant input/impact on the Geelong Community.
Today, students from grade 3/4 Herne Hill PS visited our library to see their work displayed. Students also enjoyed selecting and reading a novel from the WHC collection.
We look forward to future visits from Herne Hill PS staff and students.

TERRI'S TALES
“Sickness”
It is a tough job being a parent when making decisions about your child’s health. With Covid still lurking, and your son wakes up with a sore throat and the sniffles, you have to make the decision whether to send him to school or not. If he is obviously sick I’ve been keeping him home but if it’s just mild symptoms I’ve sent him to school with the instructions that if he starts to feel worse go to the office and get them to ring me to come and get you, then it’s home to bed, vicks on the chest, plenty of water, chicken soup, and rest. If he’s faking to get out of something at school he knows that there is no playing his xbox when “sick” which brings a miraculous recovery!
What concerns me more is when I’m sick – who looks after me!!! Fortunately for me it’s my gorgeous son.
The College has a Facebook page which is great for keeping up to date with details around the College.
