Celebrating equality, humanity and fairness

Rainbow Day

On Friday 18 May, Northcote High School celebrated IDAHOBIT DAY (International day against Homophobia, Transphobia, Intersexism and Biphobia).

Students and staff made gold coin donations to dress in their brightest colours  in support of LGBTIQA+ young people. Rainbow doughnuts, Rainbow hairspray and Rainbow face paint were all a big hit!

Rainbow Club members started lunchtime with some musical entertainment in the library. They were followed by inspirational talks from speakers Matt Wade -Editor from the Star Observer, Chris Tait - Program Director from Joy FM, and Russ Pirie - Community Arts and Development Officer from Merri Health.

An amazing $1,600 was raised, with the proceeds going to independent radio station JOY FM 94.9 which provides a voice and network for the LGBTIQA+ community, including youth.
