Principal Introduction

Dear Parents and Carers,

This current Covid lockdown is again providing opportunities for us to engage in new and positive ways, but it is also bringing some personal challenges to the surface. I hope that every student and family is coping with the changed circumstances with optimism now that we are back to a Covid safe normal and all students are learning at school.

Now that we have returned to school I would like to remind you of the basics that help every student to succeed at school.

Students need to:

  • feel safe and supported both at home and at school, being able to raise issues and challenges
  • learn about the  importance of structure and routine
  • have healthy sleep routines and diets
  • exercise regularly
  • know how to check in with their peers and seek support when things aren't going as expected

When students return to school they need to be on time, organised,  come prepared, be in school uniform, relate well to others and demonstrate the THRIVE behaviours that support everyone's learning.

With this in mind the following is an opportunity for you to consider a positive way to take care of our wellbeing and also where support is available for people.

As a College we are focused on 4 wellbeing priorities:

  • improving the mental health literacy
  • Improve help / support seeking
  • Improve awareness and access to support
  • Prevent respond and reduce risk

Regular Physical Activity

When children participate in regular physical activity, it boosts their physical and mental health and improves academic performance. Physical activity throughout the day also improves concentration, and the ability to retain information and solve problems. There are many benefits to being active and getting your move on, but a lot of children aren’t moving enough, particularly while learning from home. 15 minutes 4 times a day is all it takes.

To help support your children to stay active while learning from home, families can access a range of free COVIDSafe ideas to stay active and games through Get Active Victoria.

Families should remember that whatever gets children moving, gets them active.

If you need further advice or support please reach out to the College.

Take care and stay safe,

Kind regards,
