Principal's Report

I congratulate our students who have been sitting some of their NAPLAN assessments this week. There has been much spoken about in the media leading into this year’s NAPLAN testing period.  All I can ask is that our Year 3 and 5 students try their best.  I’m very proud of what I have seen so far, particularly students being able to show resilience and persistence at different times.  Our school completes NAPLAN online (except for Year 3 writing).  All schools are expected to be online from 2022 so we already have a good head start.  Thanks to Mr Balzary and the Year 3 and 5 teachers for the work behind the scenes setting up our netbooks and iPads for our students.

Enrolments

Prep enrolments are open. If you have a child that has an older sibling at our school and plan on them enrolling with us in 2022 could you please collect an enrolment pack from the office as soon as possible. The earlier you do this the easier it is to plan and prepare for next year.

It has been a pleasure doing tours with our prospective parents as there are so many great things to share about our school.

Grade 4 Camp

The Year 4 students are at Golden Valley Lodge Adventure Camp in Flinders.  I am so grateful that our students (especially our Year 4 students who missed their first camp last year) get to have this experience.  I have so many fond memories of my own primary school camps and believe school camps play such an important role in a child’s development.

I thank the Year 4 teachers for their organisation and preparation over the past few weeks to ensure risk assessments have been completed and student needs have been discussed to ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone.

Thank You

A huge thank you to those parents who came along to assist with the Mother’s Day stall.  From ordering to setting/packing up or serving our kids it provides a great sense of community.

Are yours up to date?

Just a reminder to families to please ensure that your contact and family details including emergency contacts are valid and correct. If your circumstances have changed please let the office know ASAP as we often find out that numbers or addresses have changed or that emergency contacts are not available to assist in an emergency. If you are unsure, please contact the office to check.

Breakfast Club

If you are looking for Breakfast Club on a Tuesday or Thursday morning when you arrive at school it has recently moved inside to the food science room.  Head in there for some nourishing food before class.  Thanks again to our volunteer parents in there early setting up and serving as well as Mrs Hansted and Ms Collins for their work organising the assortment of food.

Have a great week,

Mark Moorhouse
