School Council Report

The re-emergence of COVID has challenged us again to adapt to new ways of learning, working and staying connected. Our ability to jump back into learning remotely is a great demonstration of how resilient and adaptable we are as a school community. Thank you to all the students, staff, parents and carers for your incredible efforts at this time.

We’ve also formalised office bearer roles within school council, and are piloting a new leadership model to better share many of the responsibilities:

  • Lucy Paplinska  - President
  • Megan Goodman and Melanie Del Monaco - Vice President
  • Matthias Lanz - Treasurer

Below is a key update on some of the things school council has been working on and considering:

  1. Kitchen garden project – further investigations underway to clarify and understand department requirements for the creation of this exciting space for our students.
  2. School photographs – reviewing school photography opportunities to ensure school photographs offer good value for money and quality.
  3. Uniform shop – liaising with PSW School Uniform about the possibility of offering school delivery and collection services in lieu of regular face to face staffing.
  4. Transport/traffic – we recently met with Darebin’s Transport team to discuss road safety issues around the school, in the short term some improvements to signage and road safety markings will be undertaken, and other actions are in discussion.

If you’re interested in getting more involved in school activities - there are also a range of subcommittees which everyone is invited to take part in too.

Enviro team is disappointed to have postponed the Working Bee last weekend, however stay tuned for a new date when restrictions ease there will be plenty of jobs in our beautiful garden space.

Social Committee was disappointed to postpone our Reconciliation Week Film Club screening of Black Divaz.  This will be rescheduled so if you have purchased tickets stay tuned for a new date night out!!

More tickets will go on sale when we have a date for the screening.

Uniform Subcommittee

We are proud to share with our school community the design of our NAIDOC Day T-shirt 2021.   This is currently being printed by Aboriginal owned and operated business Clothing the Gaps.

We launched Education Subcommittee during Education Week in May.  Building Connections between school and community we welcomed 12 subcommittee members and are excited about the advocacy and consultation we will be able to do as a group.
