OVAL UPDATE

Works continue on the oval with preparations nearly complete to start laying the synthetic grass surface. It will be exciting to see this part of the project begin and our new oval appear from the ground. Over the holidays the asphalt surface around the oval will be laid. We are still expecting a completion date of the oval sometime in the first few weeks of Term 3.

PREP SIBLING ENROLMENTS

We are now accepting enrolment for any Prep 2024 students who currently have a sibling at school. You will find the Sibling Enrolment Form for 2024 on your Compass Feed.

We request you complete this form and return it to the school as soon as possible via email, or drop it in at the office. Please attach a birth certificate/passport and immunisation certificate for your child. If your child has a current visa, please attach a copy to your application.

The Enrolment Form and associated documentation, needs to be submitted to the school by Friday 23rd June, the last day of Term 2. As this form is for siblings only, we request that you do not share it with any other parents. As we have a very high demand for places, we request you return this form as soon as possible so we have a clear understanding of our prep numbers for 2024.

Please contact the school office if you have any queries.

EARLY ARRIVALS and SCHOOL STARTING TIME

Just a reminder that schools starts at 8:50am. Students are expected to be in class and ready for the school day by this time.

We are also noticing quite a number of students arriving at school quite early, sometimes as early as 8am. Students are not supervised until 8:40am so please do not drop your child off at school before this time. Teachers and staff are working in the morning preparing for the school day and cannot supervise students before 8:40am.

Please enquire with our terrific OSHC service if your require care for your child or children before school begins in the mornings.

UNIFORM REMINDERS

Wheelers Hill Primary School has a great looking uniform that we should all take pride in. Having a consistent uniform is a mark of respect and also an important aspect of school pride and behavioural expectations. It also becomes an important visual aid for when we leave the school grounds and are representing the school in the broader community.

As we are entering the colder months there are a few common issues with the uniform we are noticing and we ask parents to take note of these and address them.

Black pants are not school uniform

Students should be wearing navy or dark blue tracksuit style pants

Leggings/tights on girls are not suitable as pants

Girls should not be wearing tights or leggings as stand alone pants. However, they can wear leggings/tights under the school uniform dress, skirt or pinafore and they should be navy in colour. Different coloured and patterned legging/tights are not part of the school uniform.

Thank you to the majority of parents that send their children to school each day in the correct uniform. Uniform can be purchased at PSW and we have regular second hand uniform sales at school.

The school website is currently being updated with more visible aspects such as the photos being updated in the next few weeks. This week the policy page (see below) has been updated. Thanks to Ms Richards and Mr Stockton for their work on this. If you have any feedback or queries regarding our policies, please contact the school via our Contact page.

VOLUNTEER INDUCTION INFORMATION

We appreciate and value the contribution of volunteers to our school such as parent helpers in the classrooms or attending excursions. However we do ask that Wheelers Hill Primary School volunteers are familiar with our policies and procedures relating to child safety and understand the important role they play in maintaining and promoting the safety of our students.

Volunteers must read the suite of policies and procedures in the links below if they are volunteering at school when children are likely to be present.

The information and related policies are located in the link below.

This information will also be located at the school office, where volunteers can also familairise and read this information when they sign in.
