Features: The individual parts that make up a text. For example: Title, Materials, Steps.

Title: Name of a book, recipe or instructions.

Materials/Ingredients: The things you need to make a recipe or to build something. For example: eggs and milk, or nails and a hammer.

Instructions/Steps: The order to complete a recipe or to build something. For example: Step 1: Crack the eggs.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Look for different materials or objects in your home that can be made or put together. Come up with different titles that could be used in a Procedural Text. Your child may wish to write these titles down on a piece of paper.

For example, How to Make a Train Track.
