News from Year 5

This Week in 5C

This week in 5C we have been learning about our literature circles. We all have a book and do jobs about what we have read. The jobs we have are: 

. Questioner 

. Illustrator

. Connector 

. Passage master

. Summariser    

. Word wizard

We read a certain amount of pages every week and then discuss our thoughts with our group.

In Topic we have been learning about how light is reflected to make colours. If light is reflected off an object it reflects to your eyes making the colour that it is the colour that we see. We have also learned about the different types of energy and how they are transferred.

In Mathematics we have learned about chance events and predicted outcomes. Outcomes are when you have the number, let's use eight for an example the numbers that can make  eight when you roll two dice are (4,4) (5,3) (2,6) and if we use the number six the outcomes are (3,3) (2,4) (5,1). This makes 6 and 8 more likely than 2 which only has (1,1) and 12 which only has (6,6). And that's  what has been happening in year 5C!!!

Swimming

The years Prep to Year Six have all been doing something during the past two weeks SWIMMING! Every day for two weeks the whole school has had swimming lessons.The years four, five and six all go together to Harold Holt for Swimming. 

The first week we all walked down to the pool with three teachers and the second week so far we have been taking a bus.

It has been so enjoyable and after, most of our hair is drenched. Once we are out, the sun is waiting for us and we get back to school at about 3:30. We get our bags from upstairs and go back down and go home. Before swimming we just have a normal day then at about 1:15 we get on the bus and leave for swimming.
