English

We have been completing different roles in Literature Circles to understand what we read. They are Word Wizards, Passage Masters, Summarisers, Connectors, Questioners, and Illustrators. Our favourite role is Word Wizard because we love to trick people with different vocabulary & interesting words.

Mathematics

This term we have been learning about time, statistics and averages and problem-solving. We tested the average amount of skips for our class, our total was 684 and the averages were 10, 30 and 34. In time we have been learning about 24 hour time and telling it to a minute.

Topic: Physical Science

In Topic, we have been learning about forces like magnetic forces, gravitational forces and contact forces. There are two types of forces and they are contact forces and non-contact forces. A contact force is when two objects touch e.g. friction and a non-contact force is when something pulls or pushes something away.

Social and Emotional Learning

We have been learning in Social and Emotional Learning about how to control our feelings and share them with other people. Here are some things you can do: Meditation, reading, listening to calm music, resting or taking a walk. Some people do Peaceful Kids with Mrs Carman for 8 weeks. If you want to do Peaceful Kids again you can do it next time in Term 3.

Physical Education

We have been doing athletics for the first three weeks.  Last week and this week, we have been doing our swimming program. We have been working on freestyle, frog kick, backstroke, diving, soldier kick, survival kick, breaststroke, butterfly kick, torpedo and pizza boxes.

Performing Arts

Our role in Finding Nemo is the Moonfish. We are very excited because we are working with Prep B. Prep B are the Jellyfish. We are so busy because we do three songs. These songs are Just Keep Swimming Part 1, Just Keep Swimming Part 2 and Just Keep Swimming Together.

Visual Arts

We have been doing our Family Forest. A Family Forest is when we draw a tree and put our family in it. We have used two lessons to finish our Family Forest. We loved this lesson, this was a very creative lesson. Our drawings were stunning!

We have been learning lots of Italian words about time. Here are some words we have learned. Summer is L’estate, Winter is L'inverno, Spring is La primavera, and Autumn is L’autunno.
