Carnivals & Interschool Sport and House news

Term 2 has commenced with a full schedule of interschool sports on our calendar.  Please find set out below a few important reminders for Interschool Sport:

  1. Check Compass regularly for information about team sign-ups.
  2. Please ensure payment and consent is provided by the due date. Students are unable to attend the event if we do not have this.
  3. If students decide to pull out of the event before the day, they MUST let either the teacher coaching the team OR Miss Prosenak know ASAP so that we can find another student as a replacement. If not, the team may not have enough players and be unable to go.

Outstanding sporting achievements

Gymnastics - Sienna and Catie Forrest

Congratulations to Sienna Forrest who competed in the 2023 Australian Gymnastics Championships earlier this term. She placed 2nd on bars and 3rd on floor, coming 2nd overall in the nation competition.

What an incredible achievement!

Sienna's sister, Caitie Forrest, has also been selected to compete for the state in the 2023 Border Challenge later in June. Good luck to Caitie and her team when they head up to Brisbane for the competition.

SSV Cricket - Varsha Avulanna

Congratulations to Year 7D student Varsha, who recently participated in the School Sport Victoria U12 cricket tournament in which many talented cricketers across all states in Australia participated to showcase their skills. The attached photograph is Varsha after scoring 63 runs.

Recently, I participated in School Sport Victoria U12 cricket tournament in which many talented cricketers across all states in Australia participated to showcase their skills in the game of cricket. This year, the tournament was held in Darwin, Northern Territory. It is an Interstate tournament, where we had to play games against other states. The hot and humid weather made it very hard to play 5 matches continuously across 6 days. It was disappointing that Victorian team ended up in 4th position in the ladder. But NSW deserve to be winners as they played better cricket than any other team in the tournament. I personally have scored close to 200 runs this tournament putting me as the second best batter of the tournament. I scored two 50's, and was out on 49 in the 1st match. I was very happy to score runs for the team and the effort I had put in paid off. This one week in Darwin was a great learning experience. I have developed many wonderful relationships with my teammates, other team members and I have increased my knowledge of cricket in many ways, like my attitude and my discipline toward the game. I gained confidence that I am capable of playing cricket at a higher level and I have the ability, skill and talent to take cricket as a profession. Along with playing cricket, after the matches, my teammates and I would jump into the pool, go out for dinner, spend time with each other and have lots of fun.
