Principal Report

At Oatlands we are privileged to be associated with the Foodbank Breakfast Club. Over the last 4 years they have provided fruit that our children are free to eat in their classrooms or breaks. They have provided bread, condiments, milk and other things for our Breakfast Club. This allows the school to provide this service at no cost to participating students.

We were fortunate enough to receive a grant that enabled the school to purchase a freezer, sandwich makers, toasters and an air fryer that will assist with the running of the Breakfast Program.

Recently we were offered the opportunity to participate in the School Breakfast Clubs Program – Cooking Classes. This program was offered to all our families, and I was pleased that we had many families reply to the invitation to participate.

This is a 4-week program that at present is offered to schools once a year.

The program commenced on Tuesday this week and ran from 3:30 to 5:30pm in our school kitchen.

I was really pleased to see 9 families participate and we were at the capacity set by the organisers.

T Foodbank Victoria Facilitators ran the session where all the ingredients and equipment needed for the session was provided.

Families made rice paper rolls and were given a box of vegetables and other things to make 2 more healthy meals at home.

Judging by the smiles on families faces and the meal that the families got to take home, I think that this session was very successful, and I am looking forward to the next 3 weeks.

If you are interested in participating in the next program (most likely in 2024) keep a look out for an invitation that will be sent out to families.
