MPS Carnival 2017

CARNIVAL-
SATURDAY 18 NOVEMBER
Ta Da ….
It’s official … Introducing this year’s carnival!
Can Anybody Find Me Someone to … ?
The carnival sub-committee group is a party of just four. Our motors are running on overdrive and we could really use some gun volunteers to get sponsorship firing.
Sponsorship packages are being developed to assist in the engagement of sponsors for the cost of a specific element (eg. a particular ride or marquee), as well as cash or donated / discounted products or services. We’d be overjoyed to receive offers of assistance to help pursue and respond to sponsorship queries.
Sponsorship Opportunities
If your business, employer or contact is interested in sponsoring the carnival please drop us an email with your details at murrumbeena.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au
Raffle Prize Donations Needed!
Quite a long lead time is required to get tickets printed and coordinate the raffle with enough time to sell and return tickets. We’d ideally love to pull this together over the school holiday break.
We plan to make the raffle even bigger and better, but we need to firm up prizes for the MPS Major Raffle NOW and are seeking attractive prizes. As there is no silent auction this year, we can pool a number of smaller items together in a theme and potentially have a larger prize draw. If your company or networks are able to donate a prize, we’d welcome your contact now!
Raffle Prize Ideas . . .
- Weekend getaways - do you have a holiday house or hotel contacts?
- Events - tickets/vouchers to concerts, experiences, fishing expeditions, yacht cruises, Melbourne Cup carpark reservation, Sydney Harbour fireworks hotel reservation.
- Meals & Wine - Restaurant and catering contacts, are you a chef who can cater for a dinner party?
- Kids - party, entertainment vouchers, toys, sports gear, vouchers
- Mums – fashion vouchers, baby sitting, hairdressing, nails, facial, Queensland getaways
- Relaxation - massage, yoga, meditation
- Dads - luxury/sports car rental vouchers, golf/handyman gear, equipment hire vouchers, parachuting, pistol shooting
- Home services- window cleaning, gardening, home styling, wardrobe styling etc.
- Professional services - wills & legal service vouchers, landscape design, architectural consults, car repairs
- Hampers, wine vouchers, fuel vouchers
- Any other appealing prizes!
We may combine a range of different prizes into a package:
- eg 'Family Prize Package', which includes vouchers for kids to buy toys or sports gear, vouchers for mum for pampering and voucher for dad for equipment hire.
- 'Father's Day is Every Day' Package' which could include a fishing expedition, luxury car hire and hardware vouchers or similar.
- 'Mother's Day is Every Day' which could include professional babysitting, for a girls day out at a winery, exploring Melbourne (laneway, chocolate, coffee tour) followed by a champagne lunch.
It all depends on what we end up to work with! If we get lots of attractive things, we may be able to put together lots of packages rather than the 'usual three'. So don't worry if what you have may seem unusual - we will make it fit in there somewhere !
Please contact the raffle coordinator, Ed Meysztowicz, via email on ed@branin.com.au to discuss the possibilities !
Volunteer Register
We’ve had feedback that some people have offered to help with the carnival earlier in the year and their interest has not been registered. We are a recently appointed group and apologise for this oversight. There is now a hard copy volunteer register at the front office and our brand new website is coming soon, with a tab to also register interest.
- Class rep – your class rep/s will be in touch to ask for volunteers, but anyone can help on any stall.
- We will need more volunteers with setting up on the day prior, on the day and packing up, as well as other key roles to make the day run smoothly.
- There are still a number of other stalls available.
Stall Co-ordinators
The following stall options are still available.
- Devonshire Tea – Above any other remaining stall, this is a pivotal part of our carnival and we’d be appreciative of a volunteer to coordinate the roster for tea and coffee making and serving food. The MPS community will pull together to help supply homemade goodies to sell, and we’ll help source scones. We’re appealing to class reps who haven’t yet volunteered a stall or other willing helpers to support us to make sure this key stall can run on the day. Many class stalls don’t require the entire class to man the stalls.
Thanks in advance for your support.
- Soccer Shootout (equip kindly supplied by Frank Mascaro)
- Handball or cricket competition
- Day time craft activities eg. gingerbread decorating, make a terrarium etc.
- Plant stall
- Icecreams
- Dedicated cold drinks stand (& drink stock replenisher to food stalls).
- Hot donuts
- Chocolate fountain
- Indian food
- Nachos
- Steamed dim sims, pork buns or dumplings
Time for a Spring Clean?
Do you have any unwanted babies and children’s clothes (up to age 12 years) and toys in good condition & working order?
Then this is exactly what we need – for the pre-loved clothes and toys stall. Please refer to the table below which outlines what we can and cannot accept for the stall.
To assist us with the management of the items you donate – it would be greatly appreciated if the clothes and toys can be packaged separately and placed in the specifically marked areas in the hallway leading off from the main office foyer. In addition, clothes should be washed and toys cleaned before donating them.
Thank you for your contributions and we look forward to receiving your items over the coming weeks.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Tanya Gardiner at tgardiner@pacific.net.au.
Happy midyear holidays!
