From the Science Lab

Sherryl Crouch - Science Specialist

The Science Lab and the Pelican block wet area have been a hive of activity during class and lunch times as Year 6 and Year 5 students work hard to complete their volcano and solar system models. The patience, understanding and tolerance of Mrs Paxton, Miss Mc Clung, Mrs Coleman, Miss Lim and Mr Crouch are greatly appreciated. The mess and hijacked common areas are starting to show evidence of some emerging fantastic models.

Year 4 students are continuing their study of rocks and this week experienced working on a mine site by planning and conducting the excavation of chocolate chips from cookies. Their spreadsheet helped them calculate costs involved in mining and indicated whether they were able to make a profit from their mining activities.

Year 3 students have been interviewing each other to test class understanding of the movement of the Earth, Sun and moon.

Year 2 students have conducted tests to see how precipitation affects different surfaces. They have used well developed observation skills while ensuring they have conducted fair testing.
