Restructure

Our school continues to grow in student enrolments. From Term 3 we will have an additional senior classroom in Room 2. Kindergarten to Year 3 classrooms will remain unchanged. Mr Bradshaw, Mrs Horoch or myself phoned 37 families who have a child moving classrooms. Children at school were also informed if they are moving classrooms. These students also met their new classmates as a class cohort before returning to their original classroom after lunch on Thursday.

I commend many of our wonderful students who are moving classrooms on the resilience they showed. I thank the many parents/carers for their understanding and kind words said to me when I contacted them by phone. Mrs Horoch and Mr Bradshaw also commented on parent understanding and trust in the school to make the best decision for their child, given the difficult situation of having children change class mid-year.

Mr Evans will teach the new Year 5/6 classroom in Room 2. Ms Lim will remain as the teacher in Year 4, Room 12. Mr Heron will have Year 5’s only in Room 5 and Mrs Paxton will have Year 4’s only in Room 11.

COVID-19

Phase 4 will commence from this weekend. This change has a broader impact on the community rather than to Burrendah Primary School for the few days left of this term. While the 100 inside a venue and 300 outside a venue will no longer be a restriction the 2 metre physical distancing rule applies until Phase 5. The Department of Education will be providing more information to schools in the coming days. Once I have received this update I will be able to provide more details of Phase 4.

Toilet upgrade

The next stage of our maintenance program will be commencing next Monday. We are having a complete upgrade to Cygnet and Magpie Block toilets. This will start with the Year 1 /2 girls’ toilets in Cygnet Block and the Year 2 /3 boys’ toilets in Magpie Block. This part will take approximately four weeks to complete.

The girls’ toilets in Magpie Block and boys’ toilets in Cygnet block will then commence during Term 3. With the above works the entrance for children will change for access to the teaching areas. Students will need to follow the signs to gain entrance to the EALD room and classrooms attached to these blocks. Classrooms access will be through the doors that enter directly into the classrooms.

OSHClub will contact families directly when the entrance into their area will be from Room 26 end of Magpie Block. This is expected to occur early Term 3 for approximately 4 weeks.

Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 Reports will be sent out through Connect for Pre-Primary to Year 6 students after 3:00pm on Monday 29th June.

Our reporting format is different than normal due to COVID-19. Grades have not been given. Specialist overviews are available in Connect for each learning area that is taught rather than on the Semester 1 Report.

Kindergarten reports will be given to students on their Kindergarten day to give to their parent/carer in Week 10. A message will go out on Connect for these parents as to which day this will occur.

Parent Interviews

The early close in Term 3, Week 1, Wednesday 22nd July, for parent interviews will proceed as planned. These interviews will be indicated on your child’s Semester 1 Report. Teacher’s will contact these individual families to schedule a face to face interview.

Thank you to all of the parents/carers who responded to our text message regarding picking your child/ren up at 12:00pm next term, the 22nd July. With your support we are able to close the school to hold interviews for a number of families on the one afternoon.

If the teacher has not indicated on your child’s report that an interview is required at this time, you can contact the teacher at a later date to make a mutually suitable time for an interview during Term 3.
