Remote Learning Continues

As I write this article, we are waiting to hear the Premier's announcement regarding how Victoria will operate after the end of the current state of emergency.  There has been a lot written and said in the media about what schools will or will not be doing - most of it is inaccurate.  The only information which is factual is the information that comes directly from the Department of Education and Training, and when I receive this, I will pass on to our school's community.

I am extremely proud of how our school community has adjusted and adopted our current remote learning model.  The vast majority of students have taken the current challenges on board and are getting on with their studies to the best of their abilities.  As our students have heard me say many times, you get out of life what you put in, and this current remote learning is no different.  If you do the best you can, participate and seek assistance through the channels we have set up, you will achieve and succeed.  If you don't, you won't.

Online Everywhere

The DET Information Technology Division have worked miracles to provide and maintain online services and resources for students and schools across the state during the current emergency.  They have provided to us wireless internet dongles, 4G enabled tablets to hotspot from, connections and short term subscriptions to NBN and netbooks to supplement our own supply of netbooks.  To our knowledge, we have now provided internet access and/or devices to every family who requires them.  This is a fantastic effort by not only our IT Division in Melbourne, but also to our own IT support team at school, who have worked tirelessly to ensure our students and staff can communicate remotely.

Expanding our Social Media Presence

As well as our new look website, be sure to check out our social media sites on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.  These platforms will help us to keep our community informed with what is happening at school.  As always, Compass will continue to be our direct line of communication with you.  Please note that the above links are our official school sites.
