TERM 2 Flexible and Remote Student Support Group Meetings (SSG)
To ensure learning continuity for your child during periods of disruption caused by coronavirus
(COVID-19), we are continuing to operate our usual Term 2 SSG schedule. This will allow you and your child the opportunity to reflect and celebrate the learning progress that has currently occurred this term.
SSG Agenda Items are:
Reflection on on-site or off-site routine and learning expectations
- Review the learning routine established at home e.g., allocated work space
- Review of the expectations on the amount of work to be completed each day
Enablers and barriers to Flexible and Remote Learning
- identify what is working well when learning from home or school
- identify what needs to be adjusted when learning from home or school
- identify school and home supports
Celebrating the Learning Achievements
- We encourage you to include your child in the meeting, as it is an important opportunity to promote student voice in their learning. There are 3 stages of student participation:
Stage 1: Students are present for the Webex meeting for up to 5 minutes.
Stage 2: Students share a piece of work during the Webex meeting.
Stage 3: Students discuss their progress during the remote learning period, sharing their opinion about their own development.
SSG Communication Tool- WEBEX MEETINGS
Our school’s preferred communication online meeting platform is Webex. It is an online videoconferencing application that allows you and your child to virtually interact with your classroom teacher. Step-by step instructions to download the platform is attached with to this letter.
Alternative SSG Communication Tool- PHONE
In the case of families being unable to access Webex, teachers will be contacting you via phone. For security purposes, teachers will be required to use a private number. This will require you need to be aware of the time of your meeting, so that you can answer your phone.
Student Support Group meetings will be held between:
- Week 5: 11th-15th May
- Week 6: 18th- 22nd May
- Week 7: 25th -29th May
Term 2 Science & Geography Unit
JSA's Humanities and Science Focus for Term 2, starting Week 4 is:
‘Our Senses in Familiar Places.’
Teachers have been busy developing a Flexible and Remote Learning version of our Term 2 unit planner.
We have ensured that the lessons and activities planned are engaging and interactive. A ‘project based learning’ element is incorporated to our program which includes a breadth of options for students to exercise their voice and agency in familiar learning enviornments.
