Jacana's  OHS Co-coordinator Leila Tehrani  has set up a second first aid room in the school. The main first aid room near reception will be for treating student injuries e.g. grazed knees etc. The second first aid room is being dedicated to students who may have a medical infection. PPE has been set up in this room so staff can support students whilst protecting themselves.

The cleaner is continuing to do an additional clean in the middle of the school day of the rooms that are being used on site. The vulnerable points - door handles, switches, desk tops, keyboards, phones, horizontal surfaces and table tops and table tops.

We have instituted a new system for collecting work for students - envelopes with the students name are being placed in the airlock between the front door and the door to reception. Parents can ring the door bell and communicate with office staff via a speaker or simply pick up their child's work. This has reduced the traffic in the reception area making it safer for the staff who are on-site.

The new building is progressing well.  There are so many trades people on site we have had to open the parents car park to fit their work vans. There will be a feature wall facing the bus loop wall.  It has interesting windows and cladding that has started to be installed on the right side of the photo.

School Pride

Our new flag poles have been installed at the front of the school and the 3 flags were flying against the beautiful blue skies today. The Student Representative Council worked with local Member, Maria Vamvakinou and community grants to fund this project.  Today some of our onsite students had the pleasure of seeing the new flags being raised.   Teachers, students and parents working together to enhance student voice, agency and leadership underpin the successful elements of school pride.

We have ordered some new computers to add to the stock available, they may be available by the end of next week. If you still need a computer please email Denise to be put on the waiting list.  Denise.Clarke@education.vic.gov.au
