Clyde North Campus News

We will be back together very soon, this is exciting

It is a welcome relief that we will soon be back together on campus. Whilst the grounds are clean and looking quite beautiful, there is a distinct emptiness on the basketball courts, the classrooms, the oval, and the front of the Lyons building where the long winding queue for the Tasty-Truck used to be. To support the health of each other there will be some changes to how we move around the campus buildings and grounds and good hygiene practices maintained. Students are requested to bring their own water bottle, no glass please, which can be refilled throughout the day from our new water fountains which replace the water taps/bubblers. Students are not to drink directly from any tap on the Campus. What will not change however will be our sense of community, good humour and fun and of coarse great classes.

I would like to thank all of the students who have needed to attend onsite for their schooling over the past weeks. They have been so well behaved and considerate of all the staff who have generously given of themselves to supervise them. Whilst it has been a small group, it has been a large happy community. They too are looking forward to more students returning to the campus.

House Challenges

The House Leaders and their captains have been very busy developing new and fun ways to challenge each house and continue to build and support House Spirit. A very popular challenge currently underway is the House version of ‘Tik Tok’. Each house has developed a short dance video which showcases both humour and some dancing talent before the challenge is passed to the next unsuspecting House. Special mention to Glowrey House for this fun initiative.

Push up Challenge

Last week saw the commencement of the push-up challenge for 2020. The challenge first came to my attention when Ms Hickey sent through an email with some information about the challenge and discussed the possibility of the college participating. I was keen on the idea and started to draft a plan as soon as I could. It's a great challenge and given the circumstances we are in, and the focus on mental health, it was a no brainer. So far we as a college have completed a solid 181 push-ups, it's a positive start and hopefully over the next two weeks more people can sign up and we can complete even more push ups!(Josh Butler, Sport Captain)

10 minutes for Jesus

Every Friday at 2.00 pm Mr Antione holds a prayer service with a little difference, it is called 10 minutes for Jesus. A very simple approach to prayer, 10 minutes to give yourself the opportunity to pause and reflect on the presence of God in our lives. Using zoom meetings, staff and students gather to join in prayers of gratitude for the people in their lives. Many of us have been missed the sharing of Eucharist with our communities due to the restrictions imposed because of COVID-19, this 10 minutes for Jesus is wonderful way to express our faith as a community. All staff and students are welcome to join in 10 minutes for Jesus on Fridays at 2.00 pm.

Building Update

While you were away look what has been happening to our newest building, referred to as 6A. The dirt below is now a very large building with walls clearly defining the learning spaces that will be home to Drama, Dance, VET Hospitality, VET Music and junior music. Even in its unfinished state this building provides us with a clear picture of the innovative learning and teaching that is to come. Upstairs has a large viewing window which perfectly frames the Piazza and statute as shown in figures 3, and 4. We look forward to a completion and move in date.

Tasty Truck

Please read the letter below from the Tasty Truck Company detailing how they will support a safe and efficient customer service for our students. Whilst we support all of the measures that the Tasty Truck have identified and staff will continue to supervise, it is imperative that students comply with these measures and follow staff instructions at all times. Should a student not comply he/she will be prevented from accessing the Tasty Truck.

Finally I wish you all a safe and productive week.
