Lunchtime Concerts Week 1

Remote Learning - Ruth
Remote Learning - Ruth

Many of our musicians have been doing some great work during remote learning, and some are preparing for external examinations.

Whatever your playing standard, give some thought to playing a musical item at a Lunchtime Concert in Week 1 of next term.

All students involved in a music ensemble have been emailed details of how to sign up for a performance slot. This is a valuable opportunity for musicians of all levels to play one song on stage in front of a small and appreciative audience of friends. Sign up now, and use the holidays to perfect your performance piece!

Accompaniment and/or backing track can be organised as long as you discuss this in advance with your music teacher. Do not wait until the day before!

Insterested in taking up a new instrument?

Early next term, music teachers will be visiting Year 7 Classroom Music groups to demonstrate some instruments and invite new students to join the Instrumental Music program. Normally this process takes place in February, but given the unique circumstances of this year, we will be offering more places next semester on some instruments including clarinet, trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium and tuba.

Lessons for next semester will cost just $210 including a weekly lesson, a weekly ensemble rehearsal and any other activities and concerts that take place.

Ensembles Rehearsing

Most of our music ensembles have returned to weekly rehearsals, some of the larger ensembles have been split into smaller sectionals for the benefit of staff and students. Next term we hope to be back to normal arrangements!

Some exciting activities being planned for next term involve a resumption of major school concerts, and participation in the Victorian School Music Festival and Ballarat Royal South Stree Festival through video submission. More information will be available early next term.
