Indonesian News

On the 9th of February Ringwood Secondary College said ‘Selamat Datang’ meaning ‘Welcome’ to five Indonesian students and one Principal staff member from Sekolah Tunas Unggul in Bandung West Java.

These Indonesian students came across as part of a home stay and school visit program also in alliance with Ringwood North Primary School. This visit from Indonesia marked an official beginning to the relationship and commitment between the three schools and collectively we are all looking forward to watching this relationship grow over the years.

The five Indonesian students Akbar, Daffa, Dimitri, Gasan Rizkiya and their school Principal Bu Beina attended five days of classes as well as the RSC swimming sports during their stay in Melbourne. On the weekends they ventured into the city and to Healesville Sanctuary. None of this would have been possible without the support and commitment of their RSC host families:

  • Henry family (Olivia 7H, Stephanie 9B)
  • Jordan family (Fraya 9I)
  • D’Monte family (Jacinta 9A)
  • Santos family (Jayde 8E)
  • Wheeler family (Ben 8B, Victoria 12I)

On behalf of the staff and students at RSC and STU we say thank you! It has been a pleasure to watch you all form life long friendships and share wonderful experiences together with your new friends.

Year 7 Indonesian students at RSC were lucky to have the sister school students conduct a presentation for them about Bandung and its history, food and traditions in one of their lessons.

The sister school partnership program endeavors to create a mutual understanding between students at both Ringwood Secondary College and Sekolah Tunas Unggul. By providing students with the opportunity to meet and work together, we are ensuring that our students are aware and ready to work alongside and in partnership with our nearest neighbour in the future.

Nepal 2017 Update

Last week we had the information night for the R.S.C. Nepal Trip that will be held in the 2017 Easter break.

The evening was well attended and Ian Williams from World Expeditions gave a very inspiring talk on both the trek and the project we will be undertaking at a primary school that was severely damaged by the earthquake last year.

This trip is open to RSC students, past students, siblings, parents and staff.

If you are interested in this trip next year please contact
