Principal's Post

From Mr Phillips
The last fortnight has truly been action packed and many of the highlights are featured in this edition of our newsletter.
The recent 2016 Prefects induction was another event that was an important link with the traditions of the school and it was shared with our Year 7 and Year 12 students, family members and our guest speaker Natalie Thomas, former student and the current Mayor of the City of Maroondah, gave a great insight into her life since leaving school and her current role as the Mayor.
The fortnight has also seen the announcement of the cast for “Anything Goes” Senior Summer Sport, Year 7 Transition Days and Adventure Park, Amabassador Training and some very focused classroom activity too. Today our Year 12 students are involved in a planning and study skills day at Deakin University.
World Tour
Yesterday our world tour group departed Melbourne, following a world premiere performance of Made in Melbourne earlier in the week. They have landed safely in the USA en route to Eugene in Oregon. We wish them all safe travels.
68th Chin National day celebrations
Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the 68th Chin National day celebrations for members of our Burmese and wider community, held at Ringwood. It was truly a cultural celebration with highlights that included traditional dance and some modern music twists too.
College Council
A reminder that parent nominations for council close next Tuesday. Please contact Karen Carden for further details if you are interested.
Capital Works Project
I am pleased to confirm that the College project will be at tender in the coming week and after six weeks for finalising submissions and decisions, we can expect construction to commence in mid April. It will be exciting to see the construction of a new junior school building and related maintenance and landscaping works that will definitely create some excellent learning environments for our students.
