YEAR 10 EMPOWER PROJECT
During periods 5 and 6 on Thursday 7th June, the Year 10 male students were treated to a session provided by the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project (GSLP) around resilience and the various opportunities available to them after they finish school. Zane Foott (of Foott Waste) and Alastair Hand (of Four Kings Clothing) are local identities who have travelled along various paths to get to where they are today. Both Zane and Alastair spoke of what experiences they had after completing school, the different opportunities they took up and how important it is to rely on those around you. It was inspiring to sit and listen to them speak, with not a peep from the boys the whole time. Each of the students and staff members were so captivated by their life stories that the conversation could have gone on for much longer than time allowed. The students were so engaged, that a number of them stayed back at the end to talk to both Zane and Alastair individually. The key messages that the students have taken away is to always take on new challenges and face every obstacle with a positive mindset. Thank you to Amy Robinson and Bella Ainsworth from GSLP for facilitating the session, and Aileen Watson for the organisation at school. It was truly a fantastic opportunity and we welcome any future opportunities to support our students in planning out their futures.
