Endeavour House News

It has been a glut of babies with our chickens hatching and our family poodle Molly having her puppies all in the past week. We hatch chickens every year to give the girls a pet to care for, they couldn’t have been timed better this term with the last week being filled with babies to love. The limp to the end of term can be difficult and little things (pardon the pun) can make it easier to get to the end. There is a lot of research to suggest that the care of a pet (even temporary ones) can help teens to focus on someone other than themselves. Thanks to Richard Norrish for providing us with chicken eggs to hatch, they will return with Matilda Norrish to enjoy a life on their farm in Ravensthorpe.

We have been walking on a Thursday afternoon to the Fish Traps or Bird Hide whenever the weather allows and this is an outing that even though there are some complaints, once we get out in the fresh air they all enjoy.

This week we have been talking about gratitude with the Endeavour boarders. On the board we put up things that they might be grateful for and they added their responses. They are grateful for time, the beach and movie nights. I am grateful to have a lovely bunch of boarders who support and care for each other. We encourage our boarders to show their gratitude to the people that support them in boarding, school and in life. Simply saying thank you to the bus driver who drives them to their co-curricular commitments or the person who washed the dishes in the Dining Hall is encouraged and applauded.

It has been a quiet birthday month with no birthdays since our last Buzz. Chloe Climie and Eliza McNeil-Hanna will celebrate their birthdays in the school holidays, happy birthday to you both.  We hope your holiday birthdays are loads of fun.

We welcome two new student leaders to Endeavour House to join Amy Medway. Sophie Harris and Chloe Climie have agreed to join the boarding student leadership team. Congratulations to our new leaders who have already shown their commitment to boarding as they all attended the Keep Australia Beautiful clean up day and Amy and Chloe helped out at the grape harvest. Thanks also to Mariella and Camdyn who pitched in. Great work.

In the last week of each term we go out to dinner together to celebrate the end of term and this term the Endeavour boarders decided on pizza at Middleton Beach. We enjoyed a swim, pizza and relaxing time together on Wednesday night.  The Endeavour boarders have asked to have separate year group dinners next term and if COVID allows, we will try to arrange this. I hope you have a great holiday with your families, the Endeavour family look forward to seeing you back well rested next term.  Mrs Freeman also took the Endeavour boarders on a run to town to buy ice creams on Tuesday night as it was her last shift as she goes on leave for Term Two.

Please enjoy a few more photos from the last three weeks of term.
