Principal's Notes

Hello everyone

Welcome to the end-of-term edition of ‘Healesville High Connections’.

As term one draws to a close may I thank all members of our school community for the way you have persevered in the face of challenges and cared for and supported each other consistently. The work being completed daily by the teaching and support staff of our school must be acknowledged, as it is remarkable - they provide the highest quality educational and extra-curricular experiences for our students through what continue to be times greatly affected by COVID. Parents and guardians have been unfailingly courteous, respectful and supportive of the school and its staff- and students have been immensely resilient, determined and positive.

We have many reasons to be proud of our school community, and of all that has been achieved this year and over the recent past- I hope you feel proud of your connection with our school and proud of your own achievements.

Congratulations to this week’s stars – Tia, Lily, Skye, Cael, Tamsin and Darby. It is so good to read about the outstanding work being completed by students and about their determination and aspiration to achieve excellence.

Thank you to each of the contributors to this edition. There are so many interesting articles, each one worthy of being singled out for praise, but I feel the need to highlight one in particular. You must read ‘Writer’s Journal’! What a beautiful piece and what a wonderful relationship between siblings.

Thank you to the four office staff members for participating in the ‘five questions’ section. Karyn, Lara, Maddy and Daniel would be familiar faces and voices to all in our community- the friendly, efficient, helpful and caring ‘face’ of the school. As a community we are so very fortunate to have these four people working for and with us each day- providing expertise, guidance, advice and assistance consistently to students, staff members and parents/guardians (and a stern face from Karyn occasionally, when needed!). Thanks team!

Thank you also to the Year 8 students who so generously answered the ‘Five Questions’. It was pleasing that in answer to the question ‘Who is your favourite teacher?’ several staff members were mentioned this week. Congratulations to Mr Biffin, Mrs Plunkett and Ms Todd. Maybe Ms Todd is always happy because she has such lovely students in her Year 8 classes?

Thank you again to all members of our school community for your contribution to all that has been achieved this term. I hope you are able enjoy a well-deserved period of rest and relaxation over Easter.

Best wishes everyone- please enjoy this newsletter.
