Clean Up Australia Day

Sustainability at SJV

Clean Up Australia Day is an annual event that inspires and empowers communities to clean up and conserve our environment. During the last week of Term 1, our Sustainability Captains and around 30 students from our Clean Up Club participated in a Clean Up Australia Day event. SJV was looking cleaner than ever after the students enthusiastically gloved up and scoured all areas of our school grounds for rubbish. The waste gathered was primarily discarded masks, tiny plastics, and snack wrappers. Students worked collaboratively to sort the rubbish they found into various categories - landfill, soft plastics and mixed recycling. It was inspiring to see our captains and students rolling up their sleeves, getting out there and taking action!

'We are very thankful for the students and teachers that helped with the Clean Up Australia Event. Without this amazing team we couldn't have done this job!

This school is very lucky that it has so many people who care for the environment.'
