Principals Message

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to Term 3. We have started with enthusiasm and the classrooms are alive with learning. It was wonderful to finally be able to have a carnival of sorts this week. One thing that hasn't changed due to COVID is the spirit of our children. It was visible on Wednesday that our children are generally supportive of each other and are keen to participate. Our Yr 6 students displayed kindness, leadership  and teamwork by assisting their buddies to line up for races and find hats after the races. 

For many parents it was disappointing not to be able to be at the carnival, we understand your disappointment. Thankfully, at this point in time, the Diocesan Athletics Carnival is going ahead. There has been for some parents a little bit of confusion around restrictions for community sporting events and school sporting events. The following explanation should make it clearer for us;

“An important point to note is as the Diocesan Athletics Carnival is an inter-school event, in accordance with advice from CSNSW, it comes under community sport guidelines. Please also note that school-based sporting events, such as School Athletics carnivals, come under the Education banner of COVID guidelines and therefore advice varies. “

We have been instructed to hold off on our student led conferences until further notice. This is disappointing as the children are prepared and are very much looking forward to telling you about their learning. If you need to have a face to face meeting with your child’s teachers this can be arranged. Please stay in touch through emails and phone calls. We do miss seeing you in our school but it is vital at the moment that we follow restrictions and keep people safe. 

A letter will go home next week about the Year 6 Sydney excursion as to whether it is going ahead or not. If it is called off we will definitely be providing some fun, exciting experiences for our Year 6 children before the end of the year. 

The good news is that the building work is forging ahead and the new administration block should be up and running very soon. The Year 5 and 6 space has also started and we are hoping to be in there before the end of the year.
