Monash Tech School Excursion

On Thursday students from the primary section were invited to Monash Tech School to participate in activities involving S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.) At the tech school students worked on developing vital skills related to using Spheros technology (robotic spheres that move via an iPad). Students were then able to create a colour coded ‘Triptych’ painting with the Spheros using primary colours to form a secondary colour. S.T.E.A.M activities can also offer many benefits for students to develop hands-on applications for topics covered in Design and Technologies, Digital Technologies, Mathematics and Visual Arts. These hands-on activities give students the opportunity to learn valuable life skills like cooperation, collaboration and perseverance in the face of challenges. They also benefit from the fine motor skills practiced while working on projects like this one that have many parts.

All staff and students enjoyed the experience provided by Monash Tech School and look forward to implementing similar activities at school in the future.
