Principal's Report

“The goal of Positive Behaviour Support is not ‘perfect children’. Rather the goal should be creating the perfect environment for enhancing their growth” ― Randy Sprick
School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SW-PBS)
I am very proud to be informing everyone that we have recently been given the exciting news that we have achieved Silver level of acknowledgement for implementing the essential features of tier 1 School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) with fidelity in 2020. We achieved Bronze accreditation in 2018 and 2019 and this next step is an incredible achievement. We are the only school in the inner east region to achieve this and one of only four in the State of Victoria. Something worth celebrating! This is testament to the commitment by our school community to continue to do the very best with positive behaviour support for our students and set the bar so high. Well done everyone! We will share our certificate and display it proudly once we receive it signed by the Deputy Secretary of Schools and our Area Executive Director. Watch this space!
Events this term
Despite a couple of weeks of lockdown, we still managed to have some wonderful whole school events. Education week, although cut off halfway through, was lots of fun and provided many happy moments. Maths week was another highlight as the SRC worked with our numeracy committee to provide resources and a different Maths challenge set every day for every class. So much fun was had on ‘Superhero Day’ where we all dressed as our favourite Superheroes and raised $215 for ‘Heartkids’.
Staffing
We are saying goodbye to one of our teachers Sam Redenbach. Sam has been with us since 2009 and will be sorely missed by students, staff and families. I am sure you will join us by wishing Sam all the very best as he continues on his journey as learning specialist at Croydon SDS. Good luck Sam! We are busy recruiting to find the right replacement teacher and I will let you know as soon as we do.
We welcome Sharni and Emily to our team as new ES staff in groups 10 and 1A. We would also like to warmly welcome back Dibbie who has been on maternity leave and take up a teacher position in Early Education.
Another rollercoaster term at Monash SDS with many highlights! I am so very proud of the commitment and dedication of our staff as they navigated through another lockdown and remote learning. Despite all of this out student outcomes, achievements and positive engagement remained high. Although it was challenging for our students and families, you all displayed incredible resilience and commitment to keeping everyone safe. I can’t thank you enough. We are looking forward to term 3 and our valued and strong partnership with you all. Please have a good break and stay safe!
