Girls Table Tennis Final | Year 8/9

(vs. Bialik and Kilvington)

On Thursday July 15th, Huntingtower’s Girls Table Tennis Blue A and B teams played in the EISM Grand Final against Bialik and Kilvington respectively. It was achievement enough for the teams to reach the final as COVID-related interruptions and a forced forfeit made their journey to finals uncertain.

However, of the games the teams were able to play in Term 2 they remained undefeated. As a testament to their dedication and enthusiasm, both teams were able to maintain their undefeated record in the Grand Final and became premiers.

Special congratulations go to Antara A who was awarded Best Player for the A team and Izzie B and Junya Z who were jointly awarded Best Player for the B team. Well done HT Girls Blue!

Boys Indoor Cricket Final | Year 8/9

(vs. Kilvington)

Huntingtower 109 defeated Kilvington 73.

On Thursday July 15th the boys indoor cricket team ventured to Box Hill to take on Kilvington in the grand final. Their previous encounter was a tight game with Huntingtower hitting the winning runs on the second last ball.

The final was expected to be the same and when Huntingtower batted first, their scores were on track for a close game. After our third skin we were a little behind our intended run rate at 51. Then entered our Year 9 pair of Aryan and Thisaga, who went on to post 58 runs in four overs and set us up for the second half of the game.

The boys started strongly with the ball and our first four overs went 0/6, 1/0, 1/1 and 1/3. The great bowling continued with our best figures from Yash (2/1) and even our worst figures were 1/11. The boys held Kilvington to just 4.33 an over and were even going into the last pair. Tight bowling and a huge increase in pressure from the required run rate saw wickets fall and Huntingtower claim victory!

Man of the Match: Thisaga (38 runs and 1/11).

Best batting: Thisaga 38 | Subeer 25 | Aryan 20

Best bowling: Yash 2/1 | Aryan 2/7 |  Smaran 2/7

Girls Intermediate Volleyball Final | Year 8/9

(vs. Bialik)

The Intermediate Girls Volleyball Team travelled to Bialik last Thursday to challenge the top of the ladder Bialik for the premiership trophy.

The first set was tight, with Bialik jumping out to a lead, but the Huntingtower girls fought their way back and levelled late in the first set. Unfortunately they went down 26:24 in a nail biter. The second and third sets were also very close, but Bialik took the lead and were too strong, winning again in succession.

The final result - was 3 games to 0.

Well done to Captain Clara and Shayann who were judged best Huntingtower player in the final. Thanks to all the girls for their efforts. They have been impressive this season and are to be commended on their commitment to playing positive structured three hit volleyball.

A special thanks to coach Rob Apps for his dedication to the volleyball program at Huntingtower. We are so fortunate to have him.
