UNITY

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. This year activities were held against the backdrop of the COVID pandemic, which made its message of “Heal Country” of double significance. Injustices of the past, as well as attempts to lay blame for pandemics on other countries, leaders, drug companies or on border wars can all be addressed by coming together, by unity.

WHAT IS UNITY?

Unity embraces TEAM work and TEAM is an acronym for:

Together         Everyone        Achieves         More.

Unity is a very powerful virtue and brings with it great strength. It is a way of seeing the universe as one, designed by the One Who created us all, bringing harmony to your family at home and your human family around the world.

We can accomplish more together than any of one of us could alone. Unity helps us work and live together peacefully. We feel connected with each other and all living things. Unity brings harmony, like the sound of music made by the different instruments in an orchestra. When you practise unity, you value what each part brings to the whole. We value the specialness of each person as a gift, not as a reason to fight or be scared.

From the Bible: I encourage you to live the kind of life which proves that God has called you. Be humble and gentle in every way. Be patient with each other and lovingly accept each other. Try your best to let God's Spirit keep your hearts united. Do this by living at peace. Ephesians 4:13

From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures p 340 (Mary Baker Eddy): One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, “Love thy neighbor as thyself...”

Remember: the Lord’s Prayer starts with “OUR Father” – the perfect unifier.
