Our Big Back Yard (OBBY)  Launch  - West Torrens

A Day on the Karrawirra Pari was our opportunity to launch the Our Big Backyard (OBBY) resources for the Lockleys North Primary School community.

Our Big Backyard (OBBY) is a nature-based play program for children that encourages family connectedness through play and exploration.  This project has a community engagement focus where families and children are consulted and encouraged to explore where they live and who they share the community with.

I am extremely proud of our dedicated Lockleys North Primary School students including Isaac, Chloe, Liam, Lucas M, Lucas H and Nayia, who have been local champions, sharing their voice at the working group level on the OBBY committee, since August 2019.  Lockleys North Primary School, Lockleys Children’s Centre, Cowandilla Primary School and Children’s Centre and Torrensville Primary School are partners in this new project alongside the City of West Torrens and Department of Human Services and Green Adelaide.

The resource pack including 5 exciting locations to explore and a map with 50 things to do in West Torrens was distributed  to classes at the end of the day.  Please use these resources to engage with nature in new and exciting ways and discover and enjoy the local Karrawirra Pari environment.
