Pride Round-July 24th

Planning is underway to celebrate Pride Round on 24 July, Round 11. This is a huge senior home round with 9 teams at home across both pitches. All our fingers and toes are crossed that the current lockdown will be snappy allowing competition to resume by then.

The TEM community is invited to come down on 24 July and enjoy quality hockey and a celebration of inclusive attitudes, courage, leadership and fair play on the field, and a celebration of an inclusive community off the field.

Through relationships strengthened by Hockey Victoria, TEM is excited to be aligned with Proud 2 Play, an organisation that aims to:

• Increase participation of LGBTIQ+ people within sport, exercise, leisure and active recreation.
• Support community clubs and sporting allies in providing safe and inclusive environments for the LGBTIQ+ community
• Partner with sporting associations at all levels to influence change through education, policy development, research and events.

We'll have a prominent rainbow theme - including socks worn by players, afternoon tea, barbeque and banners/decorations. We can't wait to showcase TEM Hockey Club as a safe and inclusive environment that welcomes participation of LGBTIQ+ people in our much loved sport of hockey.

Team managers and coaches are helping to work out the best way that all teams can participate, whether they are playing at home or away.  In case of an extended lockdown, or if there are no spectators, we'll move to the next home round on Sunday 15 August.
