Celebrating with our community

I'd like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution being made to our school community this year by the Blackfriars Parents + Friends Association. Led by Catherine Morkunas and Jon Driscoll, and backed by an enthusiastic, hard-working committee, the P+F is growing as a vital part of our Blackfriars community.

Those of you who visited the P+F stall at last weekend's Prospect Road Autumn Fair would have no doubt been impressed with the array of sweets on offer - many of which were handmade by the team themselves.  What visitors on the day did not see was the amount of work done behind the scenes, before, during and after the day of the fair, to ensure our community had a fun day out. Special thanks to the members of the P+F Committee (and their spouses!) for your great assistance in making last Sunday's event such a great success.

And as a follow-up to last Sunday, the P+F were at it again today at the Primary School Sports Day, with cakes, apple slinky's and drinks all arranged by these dedicated volunteers. Special thanks also to those volunteers who assisted with the BBQ that the boys (and many visitors!) enjoyed too.

All parents / caregivers of a child at Blackfriars are automatically members of the P+F Association and a warm welcome is extended to you all to join the committee. In addition, we are looking to grow the number of sub-committees that work under the auspices of the P+F Association in the coming years; groups such as the Friends of Music, who work to support our outstanding music program, are an example of such sub-committees.

If you are able to give of your time and/or expertise to support your P+F Association in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me in the Development Office to learn how. And if you aren't able to support with your time or your skills, please know that every contribution you make to your P+F initiatives - even buying a sausage - goes towards the education of  your child at Blackfriars.
