PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME

TEACH MEETS

The PYP Network Victoria, each term, holds a number of Teach Meets around the Melbourne region.

Teach Meets are informal, collaborative experiences organised by the PYP network, for PYP educators to share ideas and experiences. The focus is on sharing ideas through short presentations (2 or 7 minutes long) with teachers attending as a participant or a presenter. The presentations can be on something connected to a unit of inquiry, a Maths or Literacy focus, a technology integration or a creative learning engagement which could be used across the curriculum.

Last week, Murrumbeena Primary was proudly represented by 6 teachers presenting at a Teach Meet at Lloyd St Primary. The MPS staff stood out with their passion, knowledge and expertise and the feedback from others was incredibly positive.

Melissa Paola presented on ‘Encouraging questioning, justifying and debating through maths’; Lucy Dunshea explained ‘Linking key concepts, learner profiles and attitudes to learning intentions and success criteria’; Alison Williams showcased ways to ‘Unpack the central idea’; Marissa McKellar displayed ‘Using Plickers across the curriculum’; Shina Maki showed how to use a ‘Human jigsaw in the LOTE classroom’; while I explored ‘Making visible connections between specialists and classroom’.

The Leadership team is extremely proud of our staff for having the courage to present in front of educators from across the network.
