Our First Athletics Carnival

What wonderful weather we had for our first Athletics Carnival last Friday. Being a good sport was an attitude we all displayed on the day and the cheering for every event for each other was great to see. Mrs Newsome said she was very impressed with our skills for the long jump event, but most importantly she liked that we had big smiles on our faces as we ‘gave it our best’. It was a very big day for us and we would like to thank Mr Garraud for organising this magnificent event. 

100 Days at School

This Thursday, Kindergarten will be celebrating their 100th day at school. This is definitely a big accomplishment to celebrate. We have done a TON of learning this year and are therefore 100 days smarter. Kindergarten 2020 rocks!

Reading at Home

It is great to see the reading that is happening at home and we are already seeing reading confidence improve in class. A reminder that home reading is to be an enjoyable time for you and your child.  You and your child must feel success, not stress!

Learning at School

In English, we are learning the letter ‘j’ and reading the tricky word ‘them’. The storybook we are reading this week is Click Clack Moo, Cows can Type by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewis. We are using the ideas in this story for writing letters. We have already written a letter to Farmer Brown persuading him to provide a diving board for the ducks on his farm. Some arguments were very convincing.

Last week we finished our fraction unit and we had lots of fun cutting a piece of bread in half and buttering only one half of it. But the best part was eating it! This week we are learning how to read time. Kindergarten will be learning about the hour hand and the minute hand. Please use the language ‘minute hand’ and ‘hour hand’ when talking about time at home with your child, as these terms help to indicate the function of each hand when telling the time.
