FIRST RECONCILIATION & FIRST COMMUNION

We continue to prepare the students for the receipt of the sacraments.  The students are excited and engaging enthusiastically with their lessons.  Please talk with your children at home about what they are learning and how they can apply this knowledge to their every day lives.

 

At a meeting at the Parish Wednesday morning it was decided that in response to the COVID-19 requirements, and to respect the children's privacy during the sacrament, First Reconciliation for St Mary's students will take place at school from 9 am next Thursday morning, 17th September.  This is the same day as planned, just at an earlier time and at school.  Fr Roel, Fr Paul and Fr Sampson will be available at different times during the morning to hear the children's first confession.  This will allow us to provide a quiet space, ensuring social distancing, whilst enabling the children to speak freely without worrying about being heard.  It will be an exciting day for the children.

 

Please ensure that you have returned your enrolment forms to the Parish Office ASAP. If this form has not been returned to the Parish Office then your child has not enrolled to receive in the sacraments.  Using the information on the forms families were recently emailed regarding the opportunity to choose between two mass times for First Holy Communion - Saturday 19th September 6 pm and Sunday 20th September 10 am.  If you did not receive this email then your enrolment form has not been received.  Please make sure you have let the Parish Office know your preferred time and the number of people who will be attending  to accommodate the COVID-19 restrictions and protocols. Masses are filling quickly and are limited to a total of 100 attendees.

 

As a school community we continue to pray for these children as they continue in their sacramental preparation.  

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

17th September - First Reconciliation - now at school at 9 am

18th September - First Holy Communion practice - 3.30 pm at the Cathedral. Please make                                      arrangements for your child to attend.

19th September - 6 pm Mass - one choice for First Communion Mass

20th September - 10 am Mass - one choice for First Communion Mass

 

CONFIRMATION

Plans remain in place, at this stage, for Confirmation to take place on November 15th. Parents will be updated on any changes as soon they happen.  A note will be sent out with information from the Parish by the end of term.

  • Wednesday 14th October 6 pm Confirmation Information Night - Cathedral
  • Friday 6th November - Candidates meet the Bishop - Time and place TBC
  • Sunday 15th November - Confirmation Mass
