English
Year 4 has been enjoying the challenge or writing explanations based on Australian environments including the plants and animals that live and grow in those habitats which have been researched. This has been closely linked with our geography unit 'Earths Environments' which year 4 is enjoying discovering more about where they live and the world around them in the PBL throughout the remainder of Term 3.
NAIDOC Week
Year 4 spent time with Miss Widders on Tuesday doing some Aboriginal beading to celebrate NAIDOC week which all of the students enjoyed and were able to take home a wrist band full of colour.
Math
In math Year 4 has been enjoying the challenge of learning about fractions and decimals. They have been using different games and techniques to improve their understanding of how and why we use fractions and decimals in day to day lives. A number of Year 4 think fractions and decimals are silly, so please feel free to halve pocket money or move the decimal point to suit yourself when the opportunity arises to see whether they pick up the mistake.
Athletics Carnival
The athletics carnival was a fun packed day for Year 4 as they moved through all the activities throughout the day with many ribbons and exhausted faces coming back to our home rooms after lunch.
