Classroom News - Year 3

Miss Outridge, Mrs Croft and Miss Limen

English

Year 3 continue to work on their persuasive writing skills and we are getting very good at it. We had a very special surprise the other week when we had to persuade Miss Outridge and Mrs Croft to open a present.  The students used a range of persuasive techniques and language to persuade the teachers to let them open the presents and we all got to enjoy the gifts found inside.

We have also been busy using our persuasive techniques and language to create advertisements. We are enjoying viewing our favorite ads to look for phrases and language that we could incorporate into our own. This week we became real estate agents and were in charge of selling a range of different properties.

Maths

We have been busy working on multiplication and division and we are starting to gain more confidence with these. Time table tiggy is a favourite of the students that allows them to practice their skills in a fast-paced and fun environment.  Next week we will be starting our new topic of data and graphs.

Science

Year 3 has had a very busy few weeks working on our science unit and learning all about the world beneath our feet.  We have been exploring the school grounds to find rocks and different types of soils to better our understanding of the Earth's surface. Our creating task for this unit saw us making our own bridges! This was very exciting and all students enjoyed the process and created some incredible designs.

Athletics Carnival

Friday was an amazing day filled with lots of fun and great achievements by everyone who participated. It was great to see all students having a go and doing their best.

NAIDOC Week

We are celebrating NAIDOC Week this week. We have enjoyed learning and celebrating Indigenous culture and spent time with beading our own bracelets using the colours of the Aboriginal flag.
