John XXIII College Rowing Club

House Regatta

On Saturday August 29, our Years 8-12 rowers came together to celebrate all the efforts of our newest members of the John XXIII College Rowing family, racing in House groups for the third Annual House Regatta.

The Year 8 students are at the beginning of their rowing journey’s, have spent the last two terms developing the fundamentals of the rowing stroke and an understanding of the fitness, dedication and commitment required to be a successful rower.  Their efforts to return and commit after an interrupted season are to be commended.

The 2020 House Regatta gave all our Year 8 students an opportunity to compete alongside our amazing group of experienced rowers. Racing over 200m, the Years 8-12 students showcased all they have learnt in an enjoyable atmosphere in front their families.

The day saw a great display of rowing by all houses, with Loreto winning the House Regatta Cup for 2020.  Congratulations to the Year 10 Mixed Quad that won the ‘Coaches Cup’ against two coaches crews and two senior crews.

Thank you to all the parents who assisted with the barbeque for the morning, the Committee for their assistance in the lead up to the event and the coaches for all their efforts throughout the Year 8 Rowing program including the marshalling of the races on the day.
